So I have just bought a PC which features an ASRockZ68 Fatal1ty Mobo.

4 SATA 3 ports(red) are powered by the ASMEDIA.
2 SATA 3 ports(red) + 4 SATA 2 ports(black) are powered by Intel Z68.

Now I've used the black SATA 2 ports and they work fine.

I have tried the first 4 SATA 3 ports which I assume are of the AS Media and they do not work. I have not tired the 5th and 6th SATA 3 ports (Powered by Intel Z68)

Now I've been told by a few people the likelihood of 4 SATA ports not working is very low. It's also been suggested to me they may be disabled from the BIOS.

Right now the PC has been put away due to sheer business and lack of free time.

So I don't have the time to check the BIOS yet nor test the 5th and 6th SATA 3 PORTS(powered by Intel Z68)

Is this a possibility and is it a case of going into the BIOS and enabling the SATA ports?

Here are the motherboard Spec's if they help: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z68%20Profess...

Cheers,

Try the Intel Z68 Sata 3 ports. They may work. If they don't, check the BIOS.

Cheers,

asmedia sata ports are not enabled for the boot, you have to act in the bios
when you want to update the bios clik here: http://www.mdclab.it/bios_mod.html

Do you guys recommend I update my Bios before I try anything? If so where's the best place to officially update it?
