I'm completely new to custom PC's built only for gaming so I need some help.

Approximate Purchase Date: Around 1 to 2 weeks

Budget Range: Around $1200 before rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Surfing the internet, and watching movies

As of right now, I am not buying any peripherals. However, recommendations for a good monitor and keyboard for future purchase would be greatly appreciated.

Parts to Upgrade: Completely new from the ground up.

Do you need to buy OS: I need an OS, planning on buying Windows 7

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Tiger Direct, or Amazon are preferential, but if there are better deals for the parts elsewhere, please feel free to link them as well.

Parts Preferences: I already have a few ideas for certain parts such as:
Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5" 500GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
I also need a WiFi card
Everything else is up to the community

Overclocking: I do not plan on overclocking this system

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in the future, but not for the time being.

Your Monitor Resolution: I would like to at least 1080p when gaming.

Additional Comments: I would like a cool looking build, but I would rather the build be efficient than having good cosmetics. I plan on playing some higher end games on this PC so some decent horsepower would be appreciated. Also, please be patient with me as I am completely new to building PC's, so I will probably be ignorant on the finer details of the build. And I would like to go ahead and say thanks to everyone who posts.

Why Are You Upgrading: I simply want to be able to play games as the way they were meant to be played: at at least 60 fps and in 1080p.

Thanks for the help!

I was able to get the i5 4690K, but not a 500GB SSD.

-i5 4690K with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler, great combo that will allow for some nice overclocks.
-solid MSI motherboard, I spent a few extra $$ to get an all black PCB, but with a windowed case I think you'll appreciate it.
-Good fast RAM, but RAM is RAM.
-120gb of SSD storage for OS and games, and 1TB for general storage.
-super powerful GTX 770 from ASUS. I can run almost any game at max, 60+ fps, 1080p.
-Corsair 450D case with a nice big window.
-Solid SeaSonic PSU, with room so spare for overclocking
-Windows 8.1 (it's a bit faster than 7 in games, and the cold boot in 8 seconds is pretty nice.
-ASUS wifi adapter. PCI-e. Should run fast enough to do multiplayer with a reasonable ping.

if you have a local micro center to you this month the 4690k is 199 with mb combo deal of 40.00 off. the cosair 450d with window case is 99.00 with instant and mail in rebate. it has a nice window and layout. if you want the unit to glow blue/red/green for 10-20.00 there are one and two meter led kits from nxzt. the newer haswell 3 6 core cpu is 299.00 at micro center. on your ssd dont go that larger you pay a lot more money for a larger ssd then a 256g one and a standard 2g hard drive as a data drive. on your gpu on your build order it last. sept 18 nvidia may be dropping newer gpu.

Since you said you don't plan to overclock, you could get an i5 4690 (NOT K) and an H97 mobo to bring the cost down a little, but I would just go with one of the above builds so you at least have an option to overclock later should you change your mind.
