First of all english is not my native language and I don't know all the terms for the parts that I'll be talking about so please bare with me.

I have an HP Envy laptop who recently was damaged by liquid spill. A relative of mine offered to give it a look but when he tried to open it he broke the motherboard flex cable connector (See picture). Right now the notebook works fine except for the screen. I can only use it by connecting it to an external monitor.

My question is, is it posible to solder it? I've been told by several people that is not possible to change the piece without changing the whole board.

It's practically a new laptop so I would really appreciate any help. Here's a picture to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. If you look at the picture you can see that the pins at the sides are missing.

Thanks.

You might be surprised how inexpensive a replacement board can be on eBay.

There are also numerous vendors on eBay offering laptop board repair for a flat fee. Read the description carefully to see if they will replace broken connectors.
