I have a case fan screw and it's completely stripped. I've tried everything to remove it other than drilling it and cutting it with a dremel. I've looked online to no avail. Do you guys know any way to get this screw out? It's been driving me crazy.
I would dremel a slot in it, and use a flatblade screwdriver.
I was thinking about doing this but I was worried about the vibrations and sparks that can happen as a result. Will the metal shavings and whatever else that happens damage the internal components of my computer?
Yeah, probably too much metal dust floating around.
Possibly carve off enough plastic from the fan mount to be able to grab on to the screw head.
if cost you 10.00 or so but go to your local auto parts store ask for a drill and tap kit. if your lucky you can tap the old screw out and not damage the case threads.
