Hi, I have an i5 4760k with an ASROCK H81M Motherboard. I was thinking of buying an aftermarket cooler, because i see people always say they overclock when they post their specs.

i have 2 questions to my fellow PC owners.

Do i need to overclock this processor? (i only use the PC to play the latest games, especially open world games )

Is my motherboard capable of overclocking? the reason i ask is because i read somewhere that you cant overclock unless you have a "z" motherboard or something (However When in BIOS settings i see a "OC TWEAKER" tab but have to idea what settings to change)

Thanks for your time! :)

I also have this running with a GTX 780 Ti (if that matters)

Yes you can OC the CPU, no your MoBo is not capable of OCing, its a H MoBo and OCing requires a Z MoBo. You can try increasing multiplier if its not locked (unlikely). You require an af cooler only if you wish to OC, for some decent temps.

What would be the cheapest you could recommend that is still decent, is MICRO-ATX and will allow me to overclock?

Yes that CPU is capable of overclocking. Since that motherboard is a "H" model, you cannot overclock the normal way through the bios. As said above you're going to want a aftermarket cooler if you plan on tweaking volatages. Check this link out on how to overclock with that board through Asrock's program (not as good as bios OC'ing but it's also better than shelling out a couple hundred for a new motherboard).

For a cooler, an awesome cheap unit is:

And is reliable for a mild overclock with solid temps.

Check this link out on overclocking with your board:

Just keep in mind, the board is not optimized for overclocking like a "Z" board is, so you may not get amazing results in comparison.

The one Blackbird recommended, ASROCK Z97M PRO4.
