2-2.5k Gaming PC Build (First Time)

Hello I'm looking for a 2-2.5k high end PC build. I tried my best to do research and find out what parts are compatible and will work well. Here is the link to my first build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4dNfxr

I definitely want the processor, video card, and CPU fan (Not sure if the video cards/memory can fit under the CPU fan)

For the rest of the parts I'm uncertain if they are any good especially the motherboard, ram, optical drive, and OS

I'd prefer a Asus Motherboard and Corsair Ram. I thought of getting a Asus Maximus vii motherboard but I'm not planning on water cooling or overclocking.

I'm not sure if Win7 Ultimate is overkill but I'd like to have Win7.

Is the power supply too much? Is it bad that if I have more watts than I need?

Also what kind of thermal paste is good? I heard that you're only supposed to use the tiniest amount of thermal paste and that no thermal paste is better then too much thermal paste.

I heard that I should watch out for static discharge so that I ruin my pc while I'm building it so in what kind of area should I build it and what anti static wrist strap should I use.

Anything else I should look out for/need when I build it?

Solution
To answer your question about win7: YES ultimate is completely overkill for what you will be doing. As for the anti static issue: Wear an anti static strap on either your wrist or ankle when building your computer. Found here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16899261005

Here is the build I suggest:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($319.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($199.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866...
To be honest why get a CPU that is unlocked and you will not be overclocking. I think I'll fix this build and you can question me why I change as to be frank it is not worth the money. Sorry to be harsh or rude.

Heres a $1 dollar extra build over you current one.

Ok, breakdown of all the changes:

Motherboard: You don't need such an expensive motherboard. The one I selected is amazing for the price and has tons of features. If you have doubts go check some reviews. And the Sabertooth series is so overpriced anyways...
HDD: Basically 3x more storage for practically the same price. You will never run out of space.
GPU: I honestly didn't believe the price when I randomly checked it when coming up with your build. This GPU is out of this world. Incredibly quiet and cool, you'll have some fun overclocking it. And it is sexy as hell, will go really great on a red color scheme.
Case: You don't need a full tower, plenty of space in a mid tower for what you're going to do. This one is practical and silent. There's also a windowless version that is slightly cheaper. You can always choose another one if this doesn't tickle your fancy.
PSU: 750W is to much and the Corsair RM is series in known for its mediocre quality. This one is high quality, also fully modular and cheaper.
Optical drive: I assumed you don't need a blu ray reader but if you do change it back.
OS: Yeah, you don't need W7 Ultimate, waste of money.

It may seem that the GPU is $733 but if you go on Newegg you'll see that it's selling for $620, but that's another thing I wanted to tell you, hurry up because those prices aren't going to stay like that for ever, especially for the CPU, GPU and motherboard. Trust me if you order all of those parts right now with the prices indicated, you'll have a phenomenal build.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I don't like these items:
CPU Cooler because I don't wanna mess with complicated water cooling
Ram I don't need 32 gbs of ram and corsair is higher quality
HD:I don't need 2tb and I like wd :D
Graphics card EVGA is higher quality
Power Supply Corsair is better
OS win8 sucks
Optical Drive asus isn't good at those parts

I might consider the motherboard
Maybe I might switch out the CPU fan if I overclock but 4.0ghz is good
(Sorry for being a corsair fanboy)

Things I changed and why:

I changed the motherboard because SABERTOOTH motherboards are just over priced... They look cool but thats about it.
I changed the case because you will not need a full ATX case and I went with the 410 because I have it and I can honestly say I love it :)
I changed the PSU to a more reliable and better reviewed unit.. The EVGA G2s are tier 1 PSUs and are just great
Last but not least (but actually least) I changed the optical drive to a blu ray pioneer! Why? Because I think pioneer is one of the best if not the best at making blu ray optical drives.. Feel free to ask questions :)

Solution
Alright get a Noctua NH-D14 instead it is great for hardcore overclocking.

The problem is if you get Corsair RAM they tend to be tall and will not have enough clearance with the air cooler as they are big and bulky. So G.Skill is shorter and have the clearance between the fan.

I am making a hardcore gaming build in your budget. And if you don't want those stuff I gave how about changing the budget to a $1500 or less build.

For Nvidia go with Asus for better cooling and a better manufacturer or GPU.

The pus doesn't matter much I gave you one of the best and it is in tier 1 and big enough for a 3 way SLI.

For optical drive it doesn't matter much only for installing OS.

Wow that looks like a great build but will everything fit in the case? One of my friends had a mid tower case and his video card barely fit. Also will it be too cramped? One thing I just realised is that will there be a place to put the ssd because there is no 2.5 tray thingy there.

I like the new motherboard, psu, os, and optical drive you suggested.

Yes you can put 2.5 SSDs on 3.5 inch HDD trays. That will work just fine. As for the length of the card, you will be just fine because the 410 has removable drive bays making any card able to fit. Once you remove these drive bays you will have 2 spots open: one for ssd one for hdd.

For the trays will I need to use a converter?

No not at all. Although the drive bays are 3.5", the 2.5" will fit without a problem.

Oooh I see what you mean. What about the ram? Would it be too tall?
