Hi there. First off, the parts I'm using:

Intel i5 4690K
MSI Z97-G45 Gaming
(Both are LGA1150)

Yesterday, after saving a christmas and a birthday's presents + work, I managed to get all my parts. I started watching the NewEgg build video, but while trying to put in the CPU, there was a lot of pressure when trying to bring the latch down. Yes, the CPU was in the right place in the right direction (Please don't ask for pictures). Is it normal to have a lot of pressure? I've been reading and sometimes there is a bit, but I literally could not push mine without being scared of breaking it.

Any help would be appreciated. C:

i used to have the 4670k and before that the 2500k. both required me to use enough force to make me very uncomfortable. but it worked in the end.

before forcing down the clamp, make sure (and i know you said you did, do it again) that the cut outs along the sides of the CPU and guides on the socket are aligned.
