Screen glitching and display driver error

First off sorry if I posted in the place.

I'm running windows 8.1x64 on a 2 month old rig.
8350 CPU
8bg fury x ram
Radeon 290x
Gigabyte mobo
900w 1rail PSU
Samsung 46" monitor via HDMI to GPU

My issue is that I'm getting a glitchy screen when watching videos, or playing games(dayz). I also get the -display driver stopped responding and has recovered- error message. Itll take maybe 10 from reboot to kick in and instantly act up when videos are loaded. So when my computer glitches up it renders useless unless I open the windows app menu or hit the task manager shortcut window. It was worse before, since it would crash my PC, now it doesn't. I've tried every driver, I've tries uninstalling to reinstalling to updated to old to betas. All the same or worse, this goes for my mobo and GPU drivers. This is the best I can get it with just me at it. I've reset and restored my windows 8 and still, I've even tried with no drivers. I've made sure there was no dust and correctly in place. I want to say this started when I went to beta drivers from defaults.(CD). I've also tried that hardware acceleration . I've tried my memory test. And I know its not overheating since it has perfect airflow next to my window and never over clocked. Also hardware monitored. I also got blue screens for 0x0001 with no drivers and new drivers and etc etc. I just wanted to give it once last shot before I gave up. Thanks for your time.

Solution
That's probably a driver issue. Try installing the catalyst control center 14.4 drivers and see what happens now that you don't have the updates installed. I agree that I've seen tons of windows update related crashes lately, mostly centered around unwanted driver updates.

I have 2 intakes and 2 exauhst and 1 vent with out a fan for a control. The case is an antec 300. I just read that it could be my windows updates . That recently windows threw out an update that was causing crashing. So I reset windows and ran with out any windows updates. Got a blue screen stop of -driver irql not less or equal rt630x64 sys. This one is new for me, but not sure if I'm getting closer or further.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot my mobo drivers and I updated them. I can tell there'd be a difference after not installing windows updates because my drivers installed differently now with no issues and with more features. I've been running DayZ ( the game that crashed after minutes of gameplay everythime) for almost 2 hours. I don't want to say this is the fix too soon but I think I figured it out. If I don't reply again after this then it is for sure the correct fix and Windows updates was the issue for multiple crashes .

Had it crash after 5 solid hours of usage. That's good in my books. Haha. No blue screen Just the glitchy screen and freeze. Checked the tempeture of my graphics card and nearly lost my finger from how hot it was. Hard ware monitor read it at a solid 50-60c. No clue now.

Yeah, but was it 50-60c while gaming or while at idle? When you're gaming those temps can increase by 50c in seconds if the cooling fan and heatsink are not doing their job or if there is a short on the card or GPU is could be worse. And if you haven't already I'd get the catalyst control center drivers installed. The native windows drivers suck and that in itself could be enough to heat the card or cause errors. Windows drivers vs AMD drivers causes more problems that you would believe.

Where is the vent without a fan located? It's really not recommended to have unoccupied vent locations as it defeats both positive and negative case cooling configurations especially in setups that have dual intakes and exhausts. For positive systems it allows air pressure and cool air to escape at a point that may not be desirable for the air flow to escape. For negative systems it may draw air from a warmer area than intended or allow a "swirl" to occur which can create hot spots.

I'd recommend blocking off the vent or adding an additional PWM fan. I've seen 8c differences in systems where an open vent was either blocked off or 12c when a fan was added. Your result might not be that much, but it could be, or even better. As an added benefit with the additional fan you might see enough of a temp decrease to further reduce the RPM of the existing fans resulting in quieter operation than presently. Just an idea. Probably isn't the cause of any continuing issues if there are but it might still be worth giving some thought to. You can get a decent Cougar or Noctua PWM fan for fairly cheap.

For a while I was thinking it was the heat but I just got a blue screen of 0x0001. This the most common one. When I start trying to move other crap around I'd get different blue screens. I have all my drivers up to date. According to my computer. I'm also not trying any beta drivers. When I added the beta drivers the fist time is when I saw this problem begin. I haven't let my GPU or CPU go over 70c. I've also already ran the memory test . nothing showed up. Could it be keyboard or mouse drivers doing this?

What beta drivers did you install, for what hardware component, and at what point did you decide to not share that information? How can we help you if you don't give us all the information? If I had known your problem began with the installation of a set of beta drivers, we would have been looking at this problem differently. And the catalyst control center 14.4 drivers are NOT beta drivers. They are the current stable recommended set of drivers for all cards that are compatible with the catalyst control center. If you don't want to install them, that's up to you , but I can't help you if don't want to listen to suggestions. Good luck.

You must of misunderstood me and I might not have explained my self properly. My beta drivers are not installed. I've reset and restored my PC and running the 14.4 drivers (not beta ). This whole issue began when I first ran the beta before restoring and removing all drivers. I don't have betas installed nor did I install them since restoring, but the same issues continue. I have my ga-990fxa-ud3 mobo chip set 13.125 . GPU is the 14.4. The first betas I installed were before this recent update .
