reallocation sector count issue

Solution


Re-allocated sectors count (raw value) if any is bad news on HDDs. As the term implies, the HDD firmware has identified bad sectors, marked it as bad, and re-allocated the data elsewhere to good sectors. This can be identified by running "HDTune" and/or "CrystalDiskInfo".

When you see the re-allocated sectors raw value count at 1 or over, start looking to replace the HDD. Do not risk losing data when the HDD fails.

I have over 10 HDDs running from 6 years to 2 years and the re-allocated sectors is zero. In the past ten years I have had 2 HDDs fail. Fortunately, I was able to clone them and recover my data (1 was the OS disk in...
