Increase the speed of your internet plan. If it's DSL, you may get some increase by installing a master filter/splitter.

Um. LAN. WiFi doesn't matter.
Unless you've got seriously fast internet, the router isn't likely to matter either.

Most of that is complete crap, and doesn't have any impact until you get >50Mb/s connections (if you're not using WiFi).

Have to agree most that list is garbage. Most the recommendation are buy new stuff.
The key to the guy being clueless is to upgrade to cat6 because it gives more bandwidth. Sure if you also upgrade your ports to 10g too and you are at a short disatance. Even if you do it does not increase your INTERNET bandwidth since most are well below even 1g.
PCI cards technically are faster than USB but both are faster than any wireless connection. Nobody uses gig ethernet on usb so he must be referring to wireless.
How much can you trust the rest of the recommendations when there are fundamental errors like this.
