I want to speed up the transfer to and from a network drive that is connected to a wireless router 10/100 Mbps, I only ever use a mac air wireless and would upgrading the router to a gigabit one help?

Solution
Likely not. Most wireless connection even though they say things like 300m or 450m get well under 100m download speeds. You could upgrade your router to 802.11ac which can exceed the 100m but it does little good to upgrade the wireless in your router if you can also upgrade the wireless in your end devices.

You would need to test your nas using all wired connections and see how close to 100m you can get. If you can get it close then maybe a router with 1g ports would help but only on wired connections. Many of the cheap NAS devices are not real fast.

This is one of those "local purchase recommendations" because, as Bill points out above, there is likely an insignificant change based on dollars spent. By locally purchasing these, it's easy for me to drive back and return the merchandise, "Sorry - this didn't work for me." No RMA hassles.

This will consume testing-time and set-up time, too, but also remember Sending is only one-half of the thru-put equation.
