These are my final choices for a CAD design workstation/gaming oriented $2500 build.

I am looking only to change the following:

> Memory (I wanted to go for the Lowest CAS with highest speed).

One of the top ranking members on this site commented on another post. (Link: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2014216/ram-work.html).

I need someone to confirm or deny this. Long story short, according to him, there is no reason to upgrade beyond a 1866 MHz memory ever with the choice of my CPU.

> PSU

I wanted to go for a dual SLI configuration later. pcpartpicker suggests a wattage of 736W. Need to know if the chosen PSU will even support as much OCing as I can get out of my components (CPU,GPU and Memory).

I am willing to look into other brands that have received excellent reviews on Anandtech, Linus and Toms hardware. I want a significant improvement in performance/$

RAM brand does not matter. Because all the chips on every stick of DDR3 RAM come out of the same factory and are made with the same materials, there is no real variance in quality. Get low profile RAM for sure. I recommend 1866 cl9. As ingtar33 stated, it is the sweet spot for money/performance.

Your PSU is overpriced as usual with Corsair. Unless this rig will be under full load 100% of the time and your electricity in REALLY expensive, a gold or silver until will perform the same. Have a look at XFX. They are AMAZING quality for the money. 750w in enough here.

noctua d15 is huge but you can still install the cooler fan over ram a bit higher in order to avoid any interference. however low profile ram would certainly help. as for 2133mhz cl9 ram, since you are into cad design and stuff and not only just gaming it will surely help. 1866mhz cl9 though can still be an option especially if the price is significantly lower.! finally the ax corsair is top quality but surely overpriced. at 850w cant think of any better one, performance/$ wisely!

I read somewhere that OCing the CPU itself would increase the required wattage by 20. I am already at 746 at two way SLI. Dont you think that its cutting it too close?
