i am trying to install windows 7 on to a hard drive, i have formated it as NTFS but when i try to install the OS i get an error message saying "the EFI system has been formatted as NTFS. format the EFI system as FAT32 and continue the installation". i tried formatting it as exFAT but then i get a message telling me to format it as NTFS.

Solution
UEFI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface) that replaces BIOS. This ONLY works with the Windows 7 x64 edition NOT x32, as there is no driver support it seems for 32Bit OS. That said, I would also see about any BIOS updates for the Mobo first, to make sure it understand 'how' to talk the drive, and then most likely make sure the HD is 4K GPT, that is, the drive is manufactured to use 4K bit instead of the old 512k format (no it isn't just a format of the drive either that makes this work) on how data is stored on the drive.
