[]My motherboard is Asus rampage iv black edition on the memory compatible list in the manual I was thinking of getting this one
F3-14900CL9Q-16GBZL
But I saw this one which isn't on the list but the only difference I see is the cas lat. is lower which is better but not by much? It's only a couple bucks lower.
F3-14900CL8Q-16GBZM

They both work on x79 motherboards. But it's not on the list in the manual. Is that an issue? Or it doesn't matter as long as it's x79? Sorry for such a noob question???

Don't worry about it, they'll work fine together.

Mobo manufacturers can't test every stick of RAM out there, there are simply too many of them and new ones are being released all the time. The QVL is never a complete list.

Your better off going to the DRAM mfrs website and looking at their list of compatible motherboards - it's easier for DRAM mfrs to test all the mobos than the reverse. As long as the DRAM capacity and frequency are within the specs of the mobo, they should work. Both of those models are well within the capacity of the Rampage IV.

Yes the RJ Z CL8 set will work fine with the Rampage - Great set :)  Simply enable XMP and select Profile 1 and you are good.
