Laptop won't turn on after repairs

I recently did some repairs on the power jack and replaced the thermal paste on my laptop. It doesn't want to start up now. When I try to start it, the power light turns on for a second, then off. If I just did a release on the flea power, the power stays on and the fan revs up each second, which is giving me doubts about my thermal paste job. Both ways, nithing is displayed on the screen. I'm not sure what to do now, because I don't want to permanently damage it. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this.
