Is my RAM working properly?

Hi, I have 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance and it is supposed to be 1666MHz, but I have Speccy, and just noticed that my RAM speed is 666 MHz.

Is this normal? Does it go up while gaming or rendering?

I saw on Youtube that you have to go to UEFI BIOS to OC RAM to desired value, but I'm afraid of messing up anything.

RAM will usually run at 1333MHz (666x2, you always have to multiply by two in monitoring programs) until it's configured to run at its advertised speeds. Don't worry about going into the UEFI, we'll only have to change one setting.

Reboot into the UEFI and:

- If you're on an Intel board look for the RAM section and an option called XMP. Activate it, you may need to specify you want to load Profile 1, do so.

- If you're on an AMD board look for the RAM section and an option called E.O.C.P. Select it and activate Profile 1.

Then save to CMOS by pressing the appropriate button (it'll be specified on screen or otherwise in your manual) and reboot.

That's all you need to do. You can verify the RAM frequency with Speccy but don't forget...
