is this build good?

Solution
The build is perfect.
I would recommend getting a 4690 and that motherboard OR a 4690K and a Z97 mobo,like a Gigabyte Z97X UD3H.
But other than that, the build is all good.
All the best. :)

okay. I thought that gtx 780 would be a lot more than 770, but when I saw a 50 dollar price difference, I thought to myself that I could go with taking my lunch from home for two weeks.

Gtx780 uses MAX 231w under max 100% load, which it will never really be under. Add 84w for the CPU under full 100% load, which again it will never be under. Then 30w for the rest of the system. You get 345w under FULLL 100% system load, which will never happen.

In reality this system will use no more than 300w when gaming on VERY intense games.

thank you. one more question ; is there anything else in the build that I could downgrade and still be in good shape? don't want to pay a lot of money for parts that I won't be overclocking, sli, or crossfire-ing(haha) with and do I need thermal paste?

what would be a cheaper motherboard? link? thank you again.

Yes.It uses cheap capacitors and they can die when playing some really intensive games for a long period of time(2-3 hours),thus damaging the card.
Any 550W+ Tier 1,Tier 2 Class A or Class B will be a great option:
