My Dad's work computer bluescreened today and now he can't turn his PC on normally without a bluescreen during the boot process. He had bluescreens before but they were extremely rare (like once every month or two). He can boot into safe mode fine and his computer is free of viruses. I'm not sure where to post the dmp file so I have copied along with the error message below:

Solution
bugcheck is caused by the graphics hardware. (graphics hardware stopped responding to windows) I would:
- update the graphics driver
- check for overheating, make sure the fan is spinning and blow the dust out.

beyond that, I would need to know what the graphics hardware you were using

Solution
run MEMTEST before doing anything else.

1) Create an Memtest disc www.memtest.org

2) Change Boot Order if needed so DVD drive is first

3) Run a FULL PASS of memory (about 30 minutes for 8GB) or until errors

Other:
If Memtest passes:
a) Burn an Ubuntu disc (on another PC obviously)
b) Unhook all HDD or SSD drives
c) Boot to Ubuntu

If Ubuntu isn't crashing and we've verified the System memory the problem is most likely the Windows drive is damaged or the software is corrupted.

I'll leave it there for now.

Hello,

First of all, I feel as though you should know that I know nothing of computers. ( please dumb things down should you have a heart of gold and choose to respond.)

I had Ubuntu installed on my laptop as well ( where im typing this message from now) and so this is running fine.

Based on your previous answer the problem is most likely due to the Windows drive being damaged or the software being corrupted.

how would I proceed in fixing the issue from this point forward?

Cheers,
