Hi, I'm having problems with booting into windows 8.1 on my Samsung 840 EVO SSD,
Sometimes when i boot it begins to 'attempt repairs' and then says that the system repair could not be completed.

When looking at the logfiles in C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\Srt

it states the following.....

Boot critical file f:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt.

Repair action: File repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 2078 ms

However when restarting it boots up fine?

This only occurs every once in a while however has just began to occur more frequently hence why i'm trying to fix it :D

My PC:
AMD 8320
8GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
Asus m5a97 r2.0
Asus R9 280x Direct CUII
Corsair CX 750
Samsung 840 EVO SSD
WD Blue 1tb
Seagate Barracuda 500gb

Thanks,

Tom .

Solution
Go to the Samsung website and find the updated firmware for your exact model of ssd. Install the firmware update and see if you are still having issues. If you are go into device manager and see if there are any devices remarked. If so, report back here and we'll see about updating the drivers for the remarked devices. Or you can attempt that if you're comfortable with it.

Hi DarkBreeze,

I have installed the latest firmware etc and samsung magician and it doesn't appear anything has been remarked,
I have however un-installed Daemon Tools light and it hasn't occurred since as I read somewhere that it can interfere with boot files etc. I now use clonedrive. Ill see how it goes and post back soon if it happens again :D

Thanks for the help :)
