How do I make my monitor connect to my PC?

So I have a newly built PC, consisting of parts that are from the last few years or so (fairly new) and my monitor has randomly broken recently (something to do with the power supply just stopping). Now, in order to save time and money I was thinking of using another monitor to connect to my PC which I already have; instead of buying a whole new one. However, it wouldn't connect to my PC when I tried to fit it in. Previously I had used a HDMI cable but this monitor used something different.
This is what I was able to note about the product:
Fujitsu Siemens
Model: SCALEOVIEW T17-2
S26361-K1012-V170
btw, the cable connected to the monitor had two ends, each blue coloured and on either side of the ends there were screw type things that you used when you attached it. My PC ALSO had an input similar to this so I tried that however the cable wouldn't fit.
Any suggestions on adapters, different cables and anything else would be appreciated. Thanks:)

As asked, are you using an integrated gpu (ports on the motherboard) or a dedicated graphics card? If you have a dediacated graphics card you can not use the motherboard ports.

If you have a dvi port but not a vga port you can get a dvi-vga adapter and it will work that way. Here is one: http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-DVI-Cable-Adapter-DVIVGAMF/dp/B000067SOH

FYI here is a link that shows differnet video input ports:

Also there is a serial port that looks very similar to VGA but only has 2 rows of pins and not 3, this is an older type of data transfer cable.

Are you using a dedicated graphics card or using video output from your motherboard? If you do have a dedicated card which one is it? The monitor you listed uses a VGA input. If your graphics card does not have a VGA output you will need to get an HDMI to VGA adapter.

I'm using my GTX 760 to connect the monitor

Grab a DVI to VGA adapter/cord, connect it to the DVI-I output on your graphics card.
