Hello.
I'm looking into buying an Astro A50 headset, and all of this talk of a sound card has me very confused. Some people are saying I don't need one, others swear buy it.

I have a Asus m5a97 R 2.0 motherboard, and I was wondering if I should buy a sound card to go with this headset. Is the on board sound or whatever going to be enough? What exactly will the benefits of a sound card be? It sounded like some people said i need one period to decode the sound or something. Also, what would a good sound card be? Several people mentioned a Asus Xonar DX/D1.

Thanks in advance.

Buy the headsets and see how much you like the sound quality.
If you don't like it,then get the sound card.
I have an ASUS M5A00X EVO R2.0,which is almost the same as the audio on the M5A97 R2.0 and I'm very happy with the sound quality.
All the best. :)
