I recently noticed I only had my GTX 770 in the x4 pcie slot in my motherboard. When I went to put it into the pcie x16 slot and booted up my computer, it acted as if there weren't any drivers installed. I tried installing the latest drivers from nvidia but it said install failed. Anyone have any idea what's causing this? I really would rather not have to run my card in the x4 slot :( . (My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-970a D3)

Did you enter BIOS and set the initial display output to PCI 1 after inserting the card into x16?

No, how do I go about doing this? I can't find that option anywhere in the BIOS

I think it should be something like this -

Look at the last option. Please reply with all the attributes present in that option.

But did you find any other attributes? There should be more inside it.

If I hit enter I can chose "PCI Slot", "PEG" or "PEG1"

Choose PEG 1. If not working, go with PEG. But make sure to do this after inserting the card in x16.
