I have 2 pairs of headphones, an ATH T500 over ear and a ATH CKR5 in ear. I use onboard sound with the Asus M4A87TD USB3. With the in ear i get a constant buzzing sound or like static or wind while with the over ear its completely silent when its supposed also none with speakers, is this an electrical problem, driver problem or i just need to get a sound card? even through it doesn't have any sign of buzzing or static with the over ear headphones or the speakers so i'm guessing its probably the in ears problem. Also i noticed with the in ear if i plug it on the back of the case during the silence in the middle of a song or video i get a stronger static like sound but if i plug it in the front its only the constant buzzing. What exactly is causing this and how can i fix it. By the way raising or lowering the volume doesn't change the strength of the noise

If you don't have problems using the same speaker jack with different headphones or with external speakers then it is most likely a problem with the headphones themselves. There is probably a loose wire, short or other problem with them.

There is much less chance for voltage noise with a cellphone. No alternating current involved.
