Hi

About 5 months ago I built a new rig. Ever since I started playing BF3 and BF4 the system shuts down randomly. It then boots up immediately to desktop. I also notice a flash in the case somewhere near the bottom of the ram to where the 24 pin power goes in (it happens so quick its hard to say exactly where). I normally game in the dark with a desk lamp.

I initially thought it was doing this because of OCing to 4.2gHz but then I reset the bios to stock and its still doing this. All components are brand new and pretty decent quality. Please can you assist me to troubleshoot this mystery.

Hardware:
i5 4670k
MSI Z87 G45 gaming mobo
CM V8 GTS cpu cooler
2x4 gig 1600 ram vengeance
MSI GTX 780
Asus D2X sound card
Seasonic M12II, 750w, 80 PLUS Bronze, Modular PSU
CM Storm Enforcer Case
128G Sandisk SSD
1 TB WD Caviar Black
Z5500
22" Screen (waiting for the ROG swift Prices to drop)

When the system was OCed to 4.2GHz peak core temp was 84degC when running Prime 95 blend. During game core temps are between 55-60 degC. Idle is 28-30 degC. I ran P95 for about 3.5 hours and was stable.

Im guessing at stock clocks (now) it will be better but its still shutting down.

If I use Aida 64 trial what voltages should I look for and their ranges. How do I monitor voltages and temps in game? Can I record temps? I normally switch from game to desktop and have a quick look at real temps.

Hi guys

Some feedback, I have changed the electrical extension cable connected to the wall socket. I have been gaming hard on BF3 and BF4 for the last two weeks and there has been no cutting out. So seems problem solved.

Thanks
