So i've finished building my own pc and its running great, apart from one thing, there's no audio. I have tried pluggin the headphones into the monitor and it is mute, when I try to use the headphone jack on my tower I still get no sound, the "HD-Audio" is plugged into the mobo, however the case came with no front panel speakers. Whats going on, is this an issue on my behalf, am I missing something or is there an easier solution, i'm really confused and quite frustrated so help asap would be appreciated, thanks
*edit*
have managed to get the audio form the back panel and front panel to start working, however i still cannot get audio from my benq xl2411z monitor, it has a headphone jack in the side and when I plug it in it acknowledges the device, however no audio comes through despite showing levels of audio being played when looking at the sound devices in windows.
Does anyone know what's causing this issue and know any way to fix it?

Have you checked to see if the device drivers are updated?

Windows 8:: Settings > control panel > Hardware & Sound > Device Manager (little blue subheading) > Audio inputs and outputs > *Right-click* > *Update drivers...

please read my new edit, the suggestion you left hasnt fixed the monitors audio being mute, is there anyway you could read the update and see if there's anything I'm missing?
Just figured out its due to me using a dual link dvi cable, sorry for the inconvenience but will still pick as best solution, thanks! :)
