Hey I am planning to do my first ever custom build and here's what i came up with. be mindful i am new to this. my idea is to make it big and bad ass so i don't have to buy a new cpu or gpu or a computer for a long time. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Dking258/saved/fVxRsY

I can find everything more cheaper but its an idea. my main questions are will is it good for gaming and school, most games I play are BF4 and upcoming farcry4. also will every thing together with out and problems. (e.g) will the motherboard fit in the case. also can you give me an idea what fps would i get on all maxed out. thanks. oh p.s I am open to any ideas or suggestions.

Feedback:

You may have issues with cpu cooler and RAM clearance, you can adjust the fan height on the 212 evo so if it is an issue; after a bit of fiddling around you should be ok.

The case is huge so no motherboard fitment issues.

CPU longevity is fine given recent history.

GPU undecided. 4k is on the way and currently you need at least 2 780's to pull it off but everyone is working on a solution. For modern gaming in lower resolutions though: it's very very good.

As far as school, no idea what the curriculum is, but you will be able to video edit quicker than the rest of the gamers running i5's

I made a few upgrade to the latest CPU and mobo and also better PSU while managing to shave a bit off the price. Are you going to be doing any HD editing or rendering? If not i'd drop to an i5 and unless you are planning on overclocking your RAM, you can get factory OC'd RAM for a bit cheaper too.
