PSU and GPU Questions

Hello,

I am pretty new to designing and learning the inside of computers.

Right now I am running the following:

CyberPowerPC-
AMD FX 8320 Eight-Core Processor 3.50GHz
8 GBs of Ram
Windows 8
AMD Radeon R7 200 Series GPU
350w PSU

I used to own an Alienware x51 stock, nothing added besides my own ram sticks I bought.

So I was comparing the two of these machines and I found out while playing League of Legends I get more FPS on my Alienware then I do my Cyberpower. I Switched out my GPU ( Nvidia 545 from my Alienware ) with a help from my friend got it setup and everything. I noticed that my FPS was around 220 where it should have been and was all fine and dandy. Then came my problem..

I started to witness in the middle of League games that my computer would like atomically restart. It wouldn't shut down completely, the lights on the side never actually turned off, but it rebooted basically.. I was told that my PSU probably couldn't handle the Nvidia GeForce 545 GPU I put inside on it. Also, the wire that attached to the wall was semi-loose so I plugged it back in all the way, i'm not sure if thats what was causing it to restart or not.

I then went out to put everything back to where they belonged and now I am dealing with another problem.. It seems like for some reason since I put the Radeon R7 200 Series back into my computer I am getting lower FPS then before..

Now my question really is, with everything I listed above would my 350w be good with everything and the Nvidia GeForce, or do you think it was simply the fact the wall pluggin was a little lose and when my foot hit it, it restarted..? I don't want to harm my computer by it randomly closing.. Thanks in advance for all the help or answers I may receive.

350w PSU is pretty bad. I have a 1250W personally, I like the headroom plus I run two 290X's and the 875W multi-rail I had (Alienware Aurora R4, Dell PSU's and motherboards kinda suck) couldn't handle it. If your computer is randomly rebooting after a GPU upgrade it's probably the power supply. It MIGHT have been the outlet, but if it persists I'd get an upgrade. I've seen some 800W's for pretty cheap.

I just went over your setup and 350W isn't enough. I promise, get an upgrade. Also, why are you running an eight-core processor with a weak GPU? I'd throw in at least a 280 or 290x and add 8GB's of RAM. Thing would be beastly then, not to mention if you crossfired.

So in your opinion do you think I should put the Nvidia back in and see what happens if it does happen again, I should upgrade the PSU? Also if you could add any comments to these would be pretty helpful :

Any information on them would be awesome, or if you had any recommendations.

Lol, I bought it Pre-Built because I didn't know anything about computers, but now that I am messing around with things, I am looking to upgrade and see what's better. Like I replied to the other guy, do you have any comments on these:

Yeah but 550w leaves NO headroom for real upgrades. Are you planning on building this thing up? You've already got a good processor, you could spend $600 and have a beast here.

Btw neither of those links worked for me.

Antec HCG M Series HCG-620M 620W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

GIGABYTE GV-R927OC-2GD Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card

Both from Newegg, and yes, I don't plan on putting a lot into it, but I just want to be able to Run League of Legends and other games at a nice FPS.

I'd go with a 280 or a 290, or maybe a 780/780ti because you're not going to be maxing out anything post 2012 on 1080 and 1440 is pretty much not an option. By the way, only buy a GOLD 80+, not a Bronze or a Silver. Gold's hold pretty much 100% capacity.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202099&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814202099&gclid=CjwKEAjw1ZWgBRD-n6ew0oan1xwSJABAbf8pb_0UE-R0AgHarvlsHffCTAmWIzEuh20PJdnqByxVfhoCvy7w_wcB

Worst case scenario on budget, I'd go with that card at the least.

But if I were you..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150697&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-Desktop+Graphics+Cards-_-N82E16814150697&gclid=CjwKEAjw1ZWgBRD-n6ew0oan1xwSJABAbf8p4CxXUJK1UN5pqf57sx9rrRw9yaOC2f3N4I0sAZ1nAhoCSATw_wcB

Then flash the bios to the 290x bios. Bam, you spent under $400 for a powerful card that can pull 1440p no problem. And on down the road, provided you have a 900w minimum psu (single rail), you can crossfire a second 290 and smash gaming. Even get up into 4K.

PS: It's literally pointless to buy a 270 when you can get a 280 for like $20 more. Let's just be real. If you have like a grand to drop the GTX 690 (I like them better than Titans, sue me) would be a good choice because if you SLI (680 quad SLI equivalent) you're up into Titan Z territory. I just like the 690's, it's a personal thing. A Titan would be a better choice, even though now with the 780TI out the Titan is pretty much a dust collector because it's hella overpriced when a 780TI can do just as good for $400 less.

Yea lol, you are into territories, I don't even understand.. I really know nothing about GPUs or PSUs.. I am getting help from a friend, and he recommended those things.. I don't really want to spend a lot.. I want to stay with $350.. I am selling my alienware x51 for $300. I also spent $640 on this CyberPower. So I am just looking up put the $300 back into it.
