I am not sure if I am in the right section, but here you have it. I want to see which CPU is better. I have the Core 2 Duo and my friend has the laptop i5. I could not find many benchmarks comparing the two accurately, and maybe a community member will. He thinks his is so much better and is always showing it off but I have a feeling that it is barely better if any better. Can someone please help clarify this? That would be great. Thank you all in advance.

To clarify more, his laptop costs 1000 dollars and my desktop cost 340 dollars, so I want to see if I not only paid less but have better performance.

you can't see anydiference of speed because your friend laptop uses a hdd 5400 RPM that is slow as hell. but it is alot faster tan a core 2 duo.

Well if you look at a cpu benchmark like passmark the i5 520m scores 2382 and the e6600 scores 1552 a current gen i5 4690 scores 7703.

So his performs better? Is it marginally better? How will they compare in games if the core 2 duo is paired with a radeon hd 7750 and the i5 is paired with an intel hd graphics 3000?

The core 2 duo with the 7750 will perform better than the i5 with the igpu, much better.
