I upgraded my motherboard a few months back and when i placed my gpu in it made constant beeping noise from the motherboard. So i was wondering, if i remove the old thermal paste and use new, will it "come back to life"?

Gpu: gtx 460

Get your GPU tried in another system, you only have a single data point right now so you don't actually know anything and a constant beep is generally a memory issue.

That might actually take awhile. As for my system, is the only system in the household that is actually compatible. Everyone else has either a laptop, generic computer. or it won't fit. I want to try on my friends pc (which is still under work right now).

Anyway, my old gpu has it's old thermal paste replaced.

Another piece of info is my new gpu which i have installed alongside my motherboard worked flawlessly.

Thermal paste etc nothing to do with beeping.
Sounds to me like the error it throws when a power cable has been forgotten to be plugged into the GPU........
As a test open the case, unplug any power cables going to the gpu, probably 2 x 6 pins im guessing?
try using other matching cables from psu if available, if not as I say unplug, make sure no fluff balls or anything, plug em back in and test it again.

Gotcha, Leigh76. Thanks.
Well, i replace the thermal Paste anyways with a fairly better one. Old one was pretty dry.
