USB to Ethernet Internet Sharing

I am at a university that only allows certain systems to be attached to the network, but there are workarounds for other systems such as ad-hoc.

What I am trying to do is attach the approved system via ethernet to the wall, and then use a USB to ethernet adapter to share the internet connection with a wireless router. Is this possible? or am I doing it wrong?

The router will not work if connected to the wall.

It should be possible but there are also easier ways of doing it, for example just using a wireless adaptor to send the signal or if you are trying to connect a smart phone you can do it over Blutooth.

The best I can think of is, instead of an USB-to-Ethernet, to use an USB wireless adapter, and use that "wireless lan" you create as a bridge conenction, so that other systems can conenct via your system...
I'm not completely sure it would work, though ._.

It does work with some USB wireless adaptors, i've done it. I think it would work with most but can't say for sure.

It might be worth the try, then, right?
I've only done the exact opposite so far, connecting my desktop to a USB-wireless-equipped desktop via ethernet, and sharing the connection, but not the other way around... I think it would be an easy alternative, right?

If you have shared the wireless to the ethernet then you have used most the commands to do this. You can do this with ICS with a few extra commands. There is a video on youtube that shows step by step. You can also use the connectify software if you need something with more feature than ICS.
