I have seen numerous threads where people have had trouble with getting this gpu to work on HP computers. I have also seen some where it seems they had very little trouble to get it to work. I have also seen people on this forum saying that this card was made with "old OEM in mind"

HP p6617c is the model of my computer

It has been running a GeForce 9500 GT since 2009ish?

I am wondering if anyone can confirm that my computer can run this gpu (I know I may have to upgrade my 300w PSU)

Here are the specs. http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.prp_ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02498967-11%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.tpst=ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01&ac.admitted=1409713662714.876444892.199480143

It can but... like why? All hardware sold is only given 3 years of normal use before it is 'expected' to fail. So adding this card to this legacy system won't 'greatly' improve as much as your risking that something will 'just die'. It be smarter if your looking to go gaming on a PC, it isn't cheap, so your looking more a i5 Class CPU and you could go low end 750TI, but your better investment with a 760 or 770.

If (as I suspect) your cash strapped, you get ALOT better performance for such 'little' investment by going console instead. PS3 can play all current and even new titles (surprisingly) and a PS4 can actually play top titles 'like a PC', 1080P 60FPS at HIGH.

Ironsounds - It is a 64. I am hoping that bestbuy will allow me to do that, fingers crossed.

Tom Tancredi - it is strictly for World of Warcraft.
