So I've read a good amount of threads to learn that the H60 cooler by Corsair isn't the cooler to have for my fx 8320. I overclocked to 4.2ghz but had temps in the lower 60s. I went back to stock 3.5ghz. Now I want to replace it. I might still be able to return it.

Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement? I have read H80i is good, but the H100 is better? If there are any other cooling recommendations other than liquid cooling, I'm open to them as well. Ideally, I'd like to spend no more than $100, but may spend more to get a stable overclock (4.3 or so)

Specs are
AMD fx8320 back to stock 3.5
Corsair H60 cooling
Gigabyte ga990fxa-ud3 f2 mobo
EVGA gtx 760 graphics card
Ballistic sport DDR3 memory dual set up (2 x 2gb / 2 4gb)
EVGA 600w psu
WD 1TB HDD / Seagate 500GB HDD
Cooler Master HAF 912 case

The Hyper 212 EVO is very cost effective and cooling wise you need a H100 to beat it

So this 212 EVO, which is just $30, is far more effective in cooling my fx8320 than the H60 that cost me $60?

I have been hearing a lot about the H100.

I have both the H80i and the H100i, i truly recommend them both! - depending on how much space you have in your case.

I have an OC'd 4790k at 4.6GHz and it gets HOT, with the coolers i measured at:

H80i - Idle: 40c / Load: 85c
H100i - Idle 35c / Load 77c
H100i (Push/Pull) - Idle 32c / Load: 73c

I also love the Corsair link functionality, a real great software to take the coolers to another level.

(Oh god i sound like a Corsair rep..)

;)  Think at times a lot of us sound like reps :)  It get's real interesting when when you talk well of multiple products from different manufacturers and different components - like being a rep for a number of companies ;)

I admit I bought the H60 based on the name (Corsair) but didn't realize even they would offer low tier, not as good products. The case I have is a cooler master haf 912.

912 is perfect for an EVO, plenty of room. Initially had one on my 4770K/Z87 Hero and it was fine up through about 4.4 24/7 use

I had a 912 and switched to he HAF XB, the H100i doesn't fit on top (its 10 mm off).

The H80i sits perfectly at the back exhaust but that means replacing the top 200mm fan to a smaller one.

And the i series is in a whole other level if you ask me.

Revisiting this as I am planning to buy Evo or H80i today. I read some reviews on H80i and most of them says that the cooler comes with female connectors and not a male connectors. Is there anything else I should get other than the male connectors? To refresh, I have an HAF 912 cooler master case.

As always, any tips are helpful. Thanks.

Update. I went with the CM 212 Evo. Installed it. Started an overclock at 4.4ghz. Running prime for about an hour now and temps are steady at 35C. I guess I can push it further? I'll wait to hear from you guys.

Though I saw many guides and videos on overclocking, I couldn't find any with my specifi mobo and bios. I have the Gigabyte 990-UD3 mobo with the UEFI Dual Bios. I'm not sure if this is outdated or not, but I have ready way too many warning on flashing/updating BIOS.

Someone please confirm if I should go higher on the overclock and if the UEFI Dual Bios is no longer current.

What BIOS version and yes you can try and take it higher, keep notes on your current settings so you have fallback and just take things up slowly

Hey Trade..

Bios version is F2. I got 1 error from one of my threads on 4.4. So I lowered to 4.3. All seems stable. I never reached 45c in temps. Could it be I didn't bump the voltage high enough? I currently have it as 1.3875. Now I gotta overclock the video card. Thanks for the recommendation on the Evo. It runs great based off the low temps I'm getting.

Might try up a tad bit w/ the vCore voltage (CPU) and see if it helps
