[strike]I've asked similar questions to this before. I'm going to by the end of the year be running an Oc'ed i5 4690k. I've been planning on upgrading my psu for a bit now and I can't come to which one I should bother with.
I'm stuck between the OCZ Zt 550 w & 650 w(only 10$ difference between the two)
Or the Evga 750b1

Please don't suggest other options unless they are very very similarly priced, now from what I can tell is the OCZ is great, except people complain about the fan being loud, I would prefer not a horribly loud psu. :][/strike]

Ocz Zt 750 W Or Evga 750b1

Which would you prefer? I plan to at some point in the future, not sure when, to run CFX 7870's. By the end of year a Oc'ed i5 4690k.

Solution
the 550 should be enough, but for my build and everybody that i know, they got a higher wattage better quality psu to give themselves more headroom, upgrade potential, and cleaner power delivery, that being said, i think you gave all bronze certified, but for my upcoming upgrade i am going gold evga, but with you simply based on the notion of headroom in power needs, i would go with the evga 750 watt, unless you want a lower power bill, but so far with my computer it only raised the bill like 5 -10 dollars, that is running my computer 18+ hours a day doing work and gaming and recording and doing 40 things at once

Only reason I considered the 550 was the nice price tag. I might as well spend the extra 30$ for the 750W so I can CFX my 7870 so that way I can get a nice solid 2 years of high/medium game performance.

I'm just not sure which 750 to pick.

Make sure there is enough power for cfx. i need to up my psu to run it safely before i set it up. if you want a good 750 watt without cfx go for the corsair cx750m. reliable and the one me and 6 of my friends use. if you want cfx and power is estimated less than 750 watts but more than like 650 go for 850 watt gold or platinum. maybe if it is more on the 650 side you might get away with 750 watt gold or platinum, i am not sure if they do 750 watt titanium, but if they do it will surely break your budget. be sure to pick a solution please.

The OCZ psu is far better than a CX supply ._. OCZ ranks 1a VS. the Cx 750m at tier 3.

I guess I pretty much answered my own question, but I'm unsure if the 750b1(which is a newer EVGA psu) is the same as the listed tier 3 750 watt evga supply.

Sadly I won't be voting you as best solution as you suggested me a downgrade psu to the ones I asked about.

Any other opinions would be helpful. Thank you.

This is what I mean, I asked after your first post which of the two to pick as I figured I might as well get one for the 750 watts, as the OCZ zt comes in 750 for only 10$ more over the EVGA 750 watt. But you suggested the CX750m after my second post, maybe it was all a big misunderstanding. :bounce:

yeah, it was a misunderstanding. I mean the cx isnt bad at all. it is a very good and reliable psu, just not the one you are looking for, you want top tier. go for the evga one you asked for in the first place.
