I bought an ASUS desktop from Newegg. It has the AMD FX 8300. According to CPU-Z the core speed is flickering between 3611.40MHZ and 3612.05 isnt that 3.6GHZ. Shouldnt it be at 3300 or something like that to make it 3.3GHZ. BTW no I havent OC'd and nothing major is running in the background. In system under processor it says 3.30GHZ. Just really curious...

Do you use "Performance" mode in Windows Power Options (you can find it in the control panel). If so, then open up your mode, go to advanced settings, navigate to Processor Power Management and check the Minimum processor state at 10%. This will let your CPU downclock when it is not needed.

Wow, that really did something. Assuming its OK for it to cycle thru 1900, 2400, 3600MGZ. Thanks...

It is completely fine. My 2700k cycles at 1600, 2400, 2800, 3000, 3200, 3500 and when there is real load it goes to my 4 GHz overclock. Changing frequency like this lowers the power usage, produces less heat and keeps the CPU alive for longer (if you are going to keep a CPU for 10 years+ or pass it down to somebody).
