Solution
A Z series is not needed as you will not overclock. The H97 is not suitable for overclocking and the Z97 is suitable.

As you don't overclock, a CPU cooler is also not needed.

You can remove the 16GB and get an 8GB if gaming is your first priority and no editing.

And I added in a much better graphics card in of you are Nvidia fan like me.

Edit: Missed you have OS already, go with Joeteoh's build because 780 is definitely worth it.

Comes in just a tad over budget:

He Donets need an OS. And with that budget you can afford an overclocking CPU and a better GPU. However the one I digested can have an overclocked CPU and will cost the same. So I hope the OP may consider that.

I'd scrap that whole build - you can definitely get way better for $1200, and there's no reason to purchase an Antec 900 since they are old, outdated, and have zero cable management and SSD support. You also don't need 16GB of RAM for gaming, drop that and invest in a better GPU.

Here's what I would suggest for $1200 (went a bit over budget):

Motherboard: ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($128.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory ($86.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($86.99 @ Best Buy)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($53.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB ACX Video Card ($459.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Blackout with Window ATX Mid Tower Case ($90.12 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($97.98 @ Newegg)
