been trying to fix a hp g62 w/amd Athlon II, tried bios, silver paste, copper shims, cleaned fan it blows out strong, speed fan shows "temp1" and "core" both at 80c that's all it tells me, bottom of laptop really is very hot. Think a new cpu will solve my problems? Thanks

Solution
While the computer is hot, feel the CPU cooler's heatsink, along the heat transfer pipe, and the cooling fins. See if you can find a spot where there's a big temp difference from one portion to the next. For example, the sink itself is hot, but the pipe is cool, or a spot along the heat transfer pipe where the temp drops off.

It's possible that your CPU cooling system has gone bad. This can happen if it develops enough internal microfractures that it basically stops conducting the heat away from CPU's integrated heat sink (IHS).

It's also possible that when you applied the paste, you used too much or too little. Either can result in less than optimal heat transfer from the IHS to the cooler's heat sink. If you pull the cooler...

It's also possible that when you applied the paste, you used too much or too little. Either can result in less than optimal heat transfer from the IHS to the cooler's heat sink. If you pull the cooler, the IHS should be completely, or almost completely covered with paste, but not so much that it oozed over the edges of the IHS. If it oozed, reapply using less paste - if the IHS only got partially covered, then use a little bit more.

the heat sink and tubes are uniformly warm and the fins are clean. someone said try feeling how much heat blows out next to my face and I don't feel hardly anything, with a different laptop I can feel quit I bit. Gonna try a different fan or maybe fan w/ heat sink off of ebay

Before you do that, you might want to check your temps with software other than Speed Fan. Some folks have issues with temp accuracy with that program - you can try HWinfo or HWMonitor. See what your idle and load temps are, then post them back here and/or see if you can find temps for your model online and compare them.
