Hello. So recently, I've decided to build a custom gaming computer instead of purchasing a pre-made one. However, I am a complete newbie on building one. I've found that all of my computer parts are compatible. I'm going wireless and I'm unsure what I should go with, 54 MBPS or 150 MBPS. USB or PCIE. I will only be using the internet for information, gaming and watching. No uploading or any other.

I've speed tested (on wireless) and have come out with:
PING: 10MS
DLSPD: 23.73MBPS
ULSPD: 1.42MBPS

Would 54 MBPS be enough? And should I go with PCIE or USB?

Thanks in advance!

Ok if you game , specially on FPS's you will need low latency response from the server.
You know actually wireless configurations have a minimum latency that corresponds for just not using cable right?
Well lets say if you go with a PCI-E card the latency will be (in most cases) lower than through USB.
So my recomendation is in this order
ETHERNET CABLE
----
Wifi PCI-E CARD
----
USB CARD

Thank you, I would use Ethernet however the modem is not exactly in my room, it would make a giant mess on my floor as I have enough cables everywhere and our longest Ethernet cable has been connected to the back of my home, approx about 8 or so meters from the modem. Thank you for answering.

Hi

As through my personal experiences, PCI-E card would be a far better one as compared to USB. Moreover if you are planning on gaming, go for PCI-E. While talking about bands, if your requirements are just gaming go with 54 Mb/s, it would be sufficient. But if you are planning on surfing then why not go for 150 Mb/s card. Hope it would help.

can you elaborate on your downloading speed? is it 27.73 Mb or MB. it hell makes a lot of difference. If it is MB as in Byte, then go for a higher card, maybe even 300 Mb/s. but if it is Mb then 54 Mb/s would do..
