Hello community,

I am willing to spend about 570 euros/ 800 dollars +- on renewing my rig (well, basically building new pc from a scratch, except GPU (I have bought previously MSi HD 7850), so I could freely work on photo/video editing software, such as Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and music ones, like Reaper, FL Studio (no, im not electronic music producer, I arrange instrumental rock music, just I got used this software, so I dont want to change it), and for gaming I have a single desire - to play normally Assetto Corsa racing simulator (recommended PC requirements: OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1; Processor: AMD Six-Core CPU, Intel Quad-Core CPU; Memory: 6 GB RAM; Graphics: DirectX 11 (AMD Radeon HD 7870, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660); DirectX: Version 11; Hard Drive: 30 GB available space).
I have already consulted with a couple of people, who really know about computers and they came up with these parts, and I don't know what to choose, what pick is the golden one:

Motherboard: ASUS H81M-D, H81, DualDDR3-1600, SATA3, DVI, D-Sub, mATX or MSI B85-G41 PC MATE, B85, DualDDR3-1600, SATA3, HDMI, DVI, GBLAN, ATX
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 Pro 128GB SATAIII, 550/470MBs, IOPS 100/90K or SSD Crucial M500 240GB SATA3, 500/250MBs, IOPS 72/60K, 7mm, Adapter
CPU: Intel Core i7-4771, Quad Core, 3.50GHz, 8MB, LGA1150, 22nm, 84W, VGA, BOX or Intel CPUCI5 3500/6M S1150 BX/4690K BX80646I54690K S R21A IN
CPU cooler: Cooler Master cooler Hyper TX3 EVO 1366/1156/1155/775/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2 or Scythe Mugen 4,1150, 1155, 1156, 2011, AM2(+), AM3(+)
RAM: DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Black 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 1.5V or Crucial 8GB Tactical Tracer UDIMM DDR3-1600, PC3-12800, CL8, 1.5V
PSU: PSU Corsair CX 600W, 80 Plus Bronze or PSU be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER BQT E9-450W, 80PLUS Gold, 4 linijos 12V (Well, one says I need 600 W in advance in I want to install additional HDD, other says HDD doesn't eat that much watts, so 450 W is enough)
Case: PSU Cooler Master Elite 342 mATX or Carbide Series 200R

Have a better suggestion? Offer. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Skirmantas

Hello!

This is what I think would suit you better:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JqYpQ7

Updated the CPU, you need the extra power. The difference is marginal between 4770 and 4790 in term of price.
Updated the motherboard. You will have the ability to upgrade the ram if needed. Also AsRock seems more reliable.
Ram is good.
CPU cooler: I put in the Noctua. More silent work.
PSU. 650 W Gold EAVGA. You can go with the 500 W one from EVGA, save ~15 bucks. Choice is yours. Thou the sweet spot with a few more HDDs would be with the 650 W one. The PSUs tend to work best at ~60% load (you have 188 W atm. Add the GPU and a few more HDDs and perhaps fans and you`re there). http://www.pcworld.com/article/2025425/how-to-pick-the-best-pc-power-supply.html

25 bucks over the 800, but i think u can manage :p

Good luck!

You don't need that much wattage in your system. Even adding in a gpu would just add 150 watts so you would brushing in about 380 or so with enough headroom to add 1-2 tb HDDs, also since the Processor is a non k series CPU you can't OC, so you don't need a overkill CPU cooler, the 212 will suit fine and is cheaper. Also for video production I also assume editing, 16gb will help process all that video editing. It only exceeded 4 dollars :)

Personally, I wouldn`t want to go wrong with the cooling in any circumstances. If you got high temps, you got high RPMs, you got high noise. It`s a no go for me. Plus, if you got the temps too high, throttling :p

As for the PSU: being less expensive at this precise moment doesnt mean it`s gonna cost less on the long run. The efficiency is best at 60-65 % load. So, if 380 watts = 65%, than 100% = 584 W. So 600-650 W should be the sweet spot. Over that, if it is Gold over the bronze, you got even more conversion efficiency (from AC to DC). Since the OP is not gonna use the PC for only 30 mins a day, but a few hours a day almost every day for at least 2-3 years, going low on the PSU is a bad idea from the energy cost point of view.

IMHO

212 is a reliable and is really quiet, plus the PSU is reliable 80+ bronze is great for long usages because i had a Logysis 80+bronze LED PSU that i would use for hours or leave the PC on for days without it giving out(I still use it on another rig) and i think you are adding your power wattage incorrectly. You are feeding him to much power for something so little and if does get a GPU he wouldnt need 650 watt's to power the damn thing. 550 is the sweet spot in this case.

Edit: Even with a R9 290X 4 GB it heads up to 497 watts, a 550 will have enough power to generate and have headroom.

Or this, a I5 4690 won't be up to par with a I7 4790, but it is good enough for what you need done and also i opt out for a Platinum PSU. So you can keep this RIG for 7 years plus.

Oh wow, I see so many great picks from both of you, guys, and its seems that those picks are really close to each other, so I bet I already received optimal suggestions. So, thank you so much, guys. I just forgot to mention, I already have 1 TB WD HDD, I don't know more detailed information towards that HDD, but I think it's 7200 rpm, "3.5 or whatever it is.

I really like i7 and i5 CPU's you picked. I personally think, maybe I should pick i7, just an investment in advance, 'cos it's always better to have a better gear. I can't really comment the rest components, because they seem look just perfect and I can't put my hand on it. Yeah, I think it's not a crime to pick 600W and be calm about sufficient power supply.

Good for you!
Good luck building it! Send us pics! :p
I think Newbbuilder11 is right about the 212 EVO. I never used it, so i just went for the best, which is Noctua.
I`m an electronics engineer and in that quality I advise you to get the 600 or 650 W because of the efficiency. 550 will be enough for functioning, as Newbbuilder11 said. As an example: a car can run at 4000 RPM in the 2nd gear, but it would be optimal to run it in the 3rd gear and at 2400 RPM. I think the analogy is pretty accurate.

As for Newbbuilder11
I think you should read again what I wrote and read the link i gave. I would refer you to some electronics, but it took me 4 years of college to understand so I wont do it.

All the best
