I would like a router around the $100 - $150 mark, but it must be fiber wire compatible and also have 802.11ac.

I have looked around for the passed few days, but I don't really know what is a good brand or much about networking to be honest.

I have chosen at the moment the TP-Link Archer D5, but I believe it is quite new and there isn't much reviews around to go off. My second choice was the TP-Link Archer D7 but that unit was a bit over my budget.

If there are any other modems, that would be better and is fiber wire compatible and also have 802.11ac capable, please share them.

Thanks in advance.

If you're on cable internet (fibre) you'll need a separate cable modem to connect to a wireless router as the modem built in to either of those two routers is only for ADSL broadband (ie regular copper phone line).

In other words, you can't connect your fibre cable direct to the router. It has to go through a separate cable modem first, then you connect the router to the cable modem.

I don't know of any routers which have cable modem built-in except some custom-made ones supplied by ISPs - - such as the Home Hub 5 from BT in the UK.
