due to the release of gtx 900 series by nvidia?
I've noticed there was a price drop already, but will it drop even more after the release?

Solution
Yes, I would expect so. Rumors are placing the GTX 980 at +25% over the GTX 780 Ti but for only $500. The GTX 970 is rumored to be $400. If true, that leaves no room for a $500 lower performing GTX 780. Frankly, there would be no reason to get one anyway.

One caveat, when Kepler came out, the GTX 580 was still a $500 card, so it's not a given. What will be certain, is that you will have more options and better prices after Maxwell is released on September 19th.
