Hi

I've got an old CRT TV which I was planning to use as a secondary display with my Mac Pro machine. The CRT has the traditional RCA AV input (red-green-yellow).

Will a DVI to RCA Cable do the job of just connecting my mac to the TV since I'll be using the CRT as a secondary display? I gather that the resolution won't be HD, but that's not what I'm looking at and I'm fine with no sound too.

Any input on this would be helpful :)

Hello,

What TV model do you have? The connectivity seems a little bit weird: a normal CRT TV will have red-white-yellow A/V input (the video input is the yellow one, which you cannot use without a DVI-to-composite converter) or/and a red-green-blue HD input (component input).

Hi Cristi,

Sorry I goofed up. It's a Samsung CRT TV and it has the red-white-yellow A/V input. So acc to you, just the DVI to RCA cable won't work? What is this convertor?

Apple has its own adapter:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1762 , but it is discontinued.

This company produces an DVI/HDMI to Composite/S-Video adapter, but is insanely expensive:

A solution could be a DVI-to-HDMI cable and an HDMI-to-composite adapter:

Or a DVI-to-component cable and a component-to-composite adapter:

Thanks, Cristi. I guess an adapter is crucial to convert the signals. Will look into these options and post my results soon! :D
