Should I get a better case or a better cooler?

FX-8350
990FX Extreme 4
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB
HD 7850 2GB DDR5
Deepcool IceEdge 400XT cooler

and I have K281 case (http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mid-tower/k281/) with an optional jetflo 120 fan on side panel. I'm planning to replace my cooler with Hyper 212X. I want to know will the side panel fan interfere with the cpu fan? If yes then where can I utilize my jetflo 120 fan? Does 212X come with 2 fans? If no then can I use it as a second fan there? Or should I use this jetflo fan on the back panel by replacing the stock case fan?

Or should I first buy a better case?

Edit: Found a pic on pcguide forum where a guy have same case as mine with side panel fan, and 212X cooler. I think side panel fan will not fit if I use 212X.

More about : case cooler

the 212x comes with 1 fan, you should be able to do a push pull on it with your jetflo fan.

Jetflo fan as PUSH PULL on 212X VS Jetflo fan as an exhaust fan on back panel (by replacing the stock fan). Which one is better?

Actually i think it would be better if you use it as exhaust, then use stock fan as the pull fan.

No it won't. I have the same case, cooler and CPU. I have it in push config facing the back exhaust.

The picture shows the cooler in push-pull exhausting at the top. Considering that you have a K281, you'll be better off making the cooler face your rear exhaust since the case does not have a top exhaust opening. And hence, you'll have no problem at all with a 120 mm side fan and Hyper 212x installed together.

No. It comes with a single 120 mm fan which you can adjust to the either side of the cooler.

Yes, you can. It makes negligible difference though, 2C if you are lucky. Not worth the noise of an additional fan.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. One more thing, I have this RAM www.amazon.in/Corsair-Vengeance-DDR3-8GB-CMZ8GX3M1A1600..., will it cause any problem with 212X?

You have the same cooler, case, processor? Nice :)  What are your ambient temps and what temps do you get during p95 or bf3/4?

212X's fan should be placed near RAM or near the exhaust fan of case?

If you say there will be a maximum of 2C difference using 2 fans on cooler, then I won't place the second fan.

BTW what are your socket temps? Mine reaches to almost 68C with the deepcool cooler. This case is not that good. If I ever buy a new case, that'll have vent to cool back of cpu socket.

It won't, as far as I can guess. If it does, you can shift the fan from RAM side(Push) to exhaust side(Pull). If you place the fan near ram, it'll PUSH the cool air through the fins. If you place it next to exhaust, it'll PULL air through the fins. They are almost identical in performance. Push config is, however, recommended if you are using a single fan. You can easily shit to pull if it interferes with your ram. (Note that the fan can be shifted up to make space for the ram, if you choose the push config.)

After running Prime95 for around 20 mins(I'm not the guy you can count for patience :p ), the temps were continuously shifting from 55 to 60. At 58-59 most of the times, I'd say.

It's not the best gaming case out there, yeah. But it's one of the few that can actually fit this cooler.

Guess I've addressed all of your queries. Let me know if you have anything else in mind.

Thanks. Just last question. I'm really curios to know your socket temps. In normal case and in load, with ambient temp.

I am using speedfan and the ambient temperature outside the case is around 28-30C at this time of the year. It idles at around 36-38, can go upto 40 at noon without the air conditioner. After running prime95 (Under 100% load) for about 20 minutes, temps recorded using Speed were shifting around 57-59. 58 would be the average, I'd say.

I believe they are the socket temps you are looking for.

That's amazing man. Speedfan shows CPU temp which is the socket temp. If your socket temp is not going above 58C that means core temp will be about 5-10C less than that. Nice! This looks like a nice cooler.

Are you overclocked? Is cool and quiet enabled?

dude you said it will fit, but it's not fitting in my case :(

I just put the 212x as it is over the cpu and there's no space. Should I put the backplate etc and then maybe it'll fit? I don't think so btw.

See these pics:

It's fitting if I face the fan towards graphic card. but i don't want to do that because case doesn't have vent in top panel.

Does it have to do with my motherboard? I see here that my mobo is not mentioned

It's really weird. I am not really sure why it's not fitting.

Here is mine.

Here is a picture taken after removing the front of the cabinet (Side panel still closed).

Lower fins are clear with a safe few mms and the top ones just touch the side panel. It closes comfortably however.

(Sorry for the quality of the images. Took them with my phone. )
