Looking for a card to SLI with ZOTAC 780 TI OC. Works good, but not sure how long it will last on overclock (1080 core clocks) (warranty is 5 years so not worried) and which one would be the best? Another ZOTAC 780 TI OC? Thanks in advance.

More about : card sli zotac 780

Yeah, I would just go with another of the same card to keep everything simple.

ZOTAC base clock is 941 (1006 boost), but when I tested it, it was about 1072 which is fantastic. I overclocked it to 1080 and now it runs at (stable 1210) when playing AC: Black Flag. The price is also pretty good, only £420. I heard that Kingpin would be a good choice but it's about £170 more expensive. Fans can rotate with speed of 3300+ RMP (max 3350 I believe at max), the temp is a bit high (87 degrees, originally 82, but I increased it to 87) (runs at 75 degrees with 100% GPU fans usage), but that's because I haven't got my 4x corsair fans installed yet.

Remember though that when SLIing, the cards will run at whatever the lowest one is running at. So if you get a more powerful card, it won't really run as it could.

So ZOTAC one will do perfectly fine? I was thinking to overclock both to the same clocks so the other one doesn't drag the better one. But I don't know if there's much sense of buying a better one, since this one works just fine and I can overclock it pretty and suprisingly well.

If you are just using one 1080p or 1440p display that is 60 hz...then I would not get another GPU right now. If you want to aim for more displays and/or higher resolutions and fps/hz, then I would consider another GPU to run in SLI.

I'll definitely be running more displays in the future, and I might do 3 way sli, since the card's price is good. Currently on 2160p but only 60 Hz display.

yeah just get a zotac, if you get anything more expensive it's not worth it since it'll just go to the lowest clock speed, just get anotehr zotac :)

At 3 way SLI you may lose performance in some games. Heck, some games still run better with a single GPU...but if you plan on doing more displays it may be good to do 2-3 way SLIs.

I have a non reference GTX 780 Ti also, and had been considering getting a second one to run in SLI, but have pretty much decided not to. Instead I will probably just upgrade to the latest and greatest in 3-4 years, and keep my 780 Ti for dedicated PhysX or other processing tasks.

I'll stick with ZOTAC then. Their customer support is awesome (called them myself couple of times), and the card seems to be really good and it is handling everything so far. Will do SLI for sure, but will think about 3 way sli though.

I mean, 780 TI in SLI will last for quite a while and I will obviously switch to new GPU in about 3 years perhaps.

Honestly, it's kind of pointless replacing or getting a better card to get few more core clocks. I can just overclock this one and it should work just as good. Anyway yeah...

Thanks!

I'd advise you to not 3 waysli, not all boards can utilise their full potential, most boards run at x16 x8 x8 so you won't get that much power from the 3rd one anyway and you'll need a bigger board and bigger psu etc

The biggest reason I plan on getting the "latest and greatest' in a few years is primarily for the different tech. The card may be a bit faster for clocks, but overall could be much more powerful. Kind of like using DirectX13 or 14 then, when the current GPUs probably won't. And the other things that NVidia may add. Or maybe we will hit cards that have higher VRAM along with the higher clocks and larger bitrate...which would be one heck of a trifecta.

I can 3-way sli on my motherboard easily. Tested it earlier with my friend's graphic cards and it worked fine. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'll be able to upgrade, or even buy a new PC in about 3 years. For now these graphic cards will do nicely, and I'm not too worried about new technology coming out any time soon since it will take some time, even after they come out as their prices like e.g. DDR4 RAM will be astronomical, and most (if not all people) will wait until prices will drop.

Yeah, my system will last fine until close to 2020 as it is anyway, so I may just wait til then to build a new one and keep this one for a server. But I may end up building a system for my wife before then....just a $1,000 - $1,500 system...but I will wait and see. Good luck either way.

I haven't had a decent PC in years (since 2004) because I was never too bothered about having a good one. Lately, I decided to get once to be able to play latest games since I'm not a fan of XBOX or PS.

Yeah, thanks and good luck to you too!

The third pcie slot is only x4, you'd not be getting much power from it, it runs x16 x8 x4

When I tested it, it seemed to be doing okay. But yeah, I probably couldn't see the difference. 2-way sli it is then. :)

I;m not saying it won't work, but to get the most out of your card, it needs to be running at x16, which is why all pcie slots have a x16, then for sli you have a x8, but if you triple sli'ed , you'd only have a x4

Yeah obviously, I'd probably have to replace my motherboard for something like this. Well, if 780 TI in SLI will work fine, then I'll stick to it. If I'll need a little bit more "power" shall I say, then I'll replace the motherboard, which isn't really expensive.

I bought a pre-made PC and I'm just upgrading it. :)

You'll need a x99 board to run at x16 x16 x8, for a x99 board, you need a x99 chipset, they all pile up

Yup, but for now I'll be fine with what I currently have. Until next year (maybe?) I'll keep these, and then I'll start thinking about replacing the motherboard if 3 way sli will be required.
