I am upgrading my ram to 8 gb and i could get 1600 mhz gskill ram with 11 cas or 9 cas.
The lower latency ram will cost me 25 dollars more, is it worth the extra cash?
I am mainly gaming so speed does matter, is the difference noticable?

More about : lower latency ram worth money

I don't think you'll notice any difference at all while gaming. You may notice the difference in synthetic benchmarks or some of the computing apps though.

You might want to shop some more. On NewEgg.com, the cheapest 1600-9 is $4 cheaper than the cheapest 1600-10 for 1.5V 2x4GB kits.

So there should be no need to compromise.[/quotem

I don't live in the u.s so i can't order from newegg.

Well, this is a USA-based site and you did not specify which country you are shopping in so "dollar" is USD by default.

The shopping around recommendation still applies: if your favorite shop charges $25 extra for something that should not cost anything extra based on other markets, it may be time to look for a new favorite shop.

I try to shop local but when I can get the same thing for cheaper elsewhere even after including shipping and the local shop refuses to match that online price even if I let them include shipping in the price match, I order online.

The price is not only in my favorite shop.
Prices of ram in Israel generally cost more than sites in u.s (amazon, newegg etc.)

My point had nothing to do with comparing USA pricing with prices elsewhere.

It was that relative price standings usually remains roughly the same: two similar products in the same price bracket in the USA usually end up sharing the same price bracket elsewhere, whatever that price bracket might be after exchange rates, taxes, levies, national/local gouging, etc. If they end up in significantly different price ranges, someone is screwing around.

As far as performance goes, higher latency may hurt frame time variance, which may be noticeable in the form of more frequent and more noticeable stuttering.

What CPU and motherboard do you have?

If you system can take advantage of high speed RAM, it may be worth it to get a better kit other than standard DDR3-1600 CL11.
