High pitch whining from motherboard

I have seen a number of forum threads with users reporting the same issue, however none of them seem to answer my issue. For the past 8 months or so, I have heard a high pitch whining noise coming from my computer, increasing in duration and frequency whenever the computer is put under any kind of load, like playing games.

It comes and goes infrequently, definitely during boot up and playing games and occasionally when browsing the web, watching youtube . Thinking it was first the power supply that was causing the issue, I replaced it with a XFX Pro 750W gold certified power supply. The problem was still there. Reading more forum posts, people said it could be GPU, so since it was three years since I last bought one, I bought a new one, MSI Geforce GTX 760 OC Edition. The problem still persisted. Now thinking it was the CPU cooler fan, I was going to replace that (still going to) but then it decided to die anyway, Since the fan isn't working it can't be that and the noise still exists (unplugged just to be doubly sure). I have unplugged literally everything in my computer leaving just the bare bones of motherboard, CPU, RAM and power supply.

The problem still exists. It now comes down to the motherboard. It is the only other part in my computer which has either not been replaced or unplugged and noise is definitely coming from around center, close to the CPU. The noise is hard to describe, it kinda sounds like high pitched coil whine (know its not the power supply since its new and has been tested in another computer) and getting really annoying. Is this common for motherboards to make this noise or is the motherboard slowly failing?. The motherboard is a MSI Z68S - G43 (LGA1155)

Have you checked your hard drive? they can make noises and a noisy hard drive is a classic sign that it is on its way out. Sorry if you have checked it already but it wasn't clear from your post. Otherwise it could be the motherboard, its possible for it to happen i guess. It could be a sign it's failing but i doubt you would know until it fails. It is probably not worth buying a new board unless you cannot put up with it, if it fails it fails and you buy a new board.

Sorry forgot to mention that, all three of hard drives are fairly new and the noise was happening before I had any of them. Also unplugged them all to see and the noise was still there. Probably will just have to see if the noise gets any worst, was just wondering if motherboards did this (personally I have never known them to). If it fails, like you said then I will have to replace it.

Unplug every from the board except the power supply and see if it does it still, as you mention it does it always at boot up.
It's coil whine probably and most likely you won't get rid of it short of replacing the motherboard. Sometimes if you can find which coil it is hot glue will help...

Tried unplugging everything and the noise still persists. Had a look over the motherboard and cannot seem to find any coils. This is my motherboard and looking at the image I cannot seem to see any on the either. Will just have to see if the noise gets any worst since I don't really want to replace it, till I know for sure that needs replacing.
