How to open the disc drive on Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14D

That model doesn't have an optical drive (ie CD/DVD drive) according to the following link.

Scroll down to "Product Details" then look on the right under "Overview". You'll see

Optical Drive: NO

Toshiba should really have called it a "Netbook" instead of a laptop, but I guess because it's got a laptop-sized screen they saw fit to call it a laptop.

Just shows how important it is to carefully check what's it's got and what it hasn't got before buying.

Not having an optical drive can be real pain in the butt for some tasks.

The manual probably covers several different models with different...

i have an L50-B-137 and they look pretty much the same when i look up yours, and after getting angry with mine i found there is a manual release after shoving the disc drive repeatedly. There should be a raised piece on the disc drive which when pushed in parallel to the keypad opens it, hope that makes sense and helps (the rectangular button is located on the slanted "underside" part of the disc drive)

As far as I know, the Toshiba Satellite C50 series doesn't not come with a CD drive. There are 2 screws that hold in a 'blank' where a CD drive can be installed.
