Hello everyone, so recently iv built my first computer, i had to sell everything I owned because im to sickly to work, but i didn't realize how hard it really was, It took me 6 hours to build because i was so afraid of breaking something, and after i had finally built it i noticed so many things i didn't understand about my build, i had a friend pick out the parts for me, and i just bought what he told me, (see parts list below). First thing i noticed is the the R9 270x has a little switch, i don't know what it does, next the motherboard itself has blue buttons, i don't know what those do either. the cases usb ports are very hard and my flash drive takes a ton of force to push in. and after when i finished installing windows 7 ultimate sp1, my computers startup would be so slow, however as i write this im installing all my windows updates to see if anything changes. and one last thing, I had planned on using the computer for a little lite gaming like MMOS and whatnot and i had intended to buy an extra 4gb of ram after i sent in my mail in rebates however by time i had received my parts the majority of the rebates had ended, can i still send the rebates in despite?

So my questions are: What do those buttons and the switch do?

Why is my windows startup slow?

Can I get a rebate past the date?

Thanks to whoever takes their time to respond, i know full well its my fault for not reading enough, also I cannot buy anything else so i must make do with what i have now, in the future however if im healthy enough to work by December , i plan on buying the extra 4gb of ram and an SSD.

You can if youve signed up for the rebate. The switch is likely a bios flash switch. So dont touch it. And idk what you mean by slow startup. How long does it take?

Compared to the old computer im using right now, the startup on my current computer takes 3 seconds to load from where it says "Welcome" to my desktop , my new computer takes about 10-15 seconds at the Welcome screen to load my desktop

It may be slow due to the ram? Thats quite odd. Thats not terrible slow though either. Do you have all the drivers yet?

there may be a faulty component. Run memtest and hddprotune. i dont know what else you can do
