I just built my little brother his first computer and I used an asus h81i-plus mother board. I've never had something like this happen to me in a computer build and i'm not sure what to do to fix it, could I be missing something simple?

More about : build mobo video outputs working gpu outputs fine

If you have a discrete GPU, the onboard graphics are going to be disabled. This is normal behavior.

This is because, at a time only one GPU out of built-in GPU and discrete GPU can give output. They both can't be used at a same time. It is more than ok if you are getting out put from discrete GPU and not from built-in GPU. If you want to have output from built-in GPU, pl go into BIOS and select iGPU/built-in GPU as primary display and connect the video cable to the video port on the mobo backside. Also pl make one concept clear. built-in GPU is in CPU not in mobo. :)
