For our non-gaming requirements, we need to put together the cheapest MoBo + core i5 4440 combination. We need at least 4X 2.0 PCIe slots (running at as low as 4X or maybe even as 1X). What's the cheapest MoBo for such a combination?

2 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 Slots I checked on the website, it says the slots too are 1X (and not 16X as per my requirement)

You clearly changed the one labeled pci. A couple above that is pcie x16.

I get it now, would you recommend EVGA when GB X and ASROCK PRO are just slightly higher price-wise?

I don't have any experience with EVGA MoBos so need a clear opinion on weather their MoBos are as good as their GPUs :)

I'd say their mobos are as good as their gpus.

So there isn't much to say, EVGA Z87/97 FTW is what OP needs :)

Probably worth mentioning that the EVGA Z87/97 FTW, when operating with all four x16 slots filled, runs at x8/x4/x4/x1, while the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC and GA-Z97X-OC run the four x16 slots at x8/x4/x4/x4. I believe both boards run the final slot at PCIe 2.0 spec rather than 3.0.

Not sure how important it really is to the OP (as they mentioned maybe being okay with an x1 slot), but just thought I should mention it.

Thanks for the info. EVGA is not available in India so maybe, we'll go for Gigabyte anyways.
