Ok, so randomly while using my computer it will just stop opening things. The timeframe of the PC being on can range from minutes to hours. This includes programs that are already open such as google chrome, so no new tabs will open or refresh the page. When I click on a program to run, i get the loading circle on my mouse, but nothing happens. I also can't even shut down from the PC and have to hit the switch or reset button. Restarting the computer fixes it, but of course it isn't a long term solution.

Can't find any help on it from the internet so i am here instead.

Thanks!

Is it possible if you could give us your computer model? Maybe your computer specifications? The most things that contribute to speed are processor, memory, and your hard drive.

Pretty sure nothing is over heating, but i'm not sure on the other two? If i'm already doing something (like playing a browser game) it will still work, just nothing else will.

That's some low speed DDR3 memory. Sure that's the right speed?

I agree with rgd. It'd have to be the HDD failing somewhat. but something about that RAM has to be wrong too. Since I feel you probably just put the wrong speed, I'm putting my bet on the HDD.

Thats the DRAM frequency, which is believe has a multiplier on depending on the ram type, Pretty sure its running at least 1033mhz +

Any idea how i would know for sure if it was my HDD?

There's no real way for sure that I'd know of. There are Hard disk diagnostics software out there though that check every part of the drive for bad sectors or what not. I'd never had a slow HDD problem though, so I dont know which ones work better than others.

What you can do though is run a MemTest86 to rule out the possibility of bad RAM sticks causing issues.

You mean your browser completely crashes? Or would your browser send you to a page saying the page you were requesting info from stopped responding?

Individual tabs will crash and some google chrome screen will come up and with a reload button on. sometimes it will also tell me to "kill" pages as they are not responding, even if they are working fine.

Try MemTest86. Make sure to run multiple passes on your RAM. That way, it can rule out the possibility of bad RAM.

Sorry i haven't replied, been busy! Not sure how to burn CD's or have any spare lying around which from what i can tell is how to download this memtest as it doesn't go straight onto your pc? I also loaded up minecraft (game i haven't even looked at in years) and i got between 7-20 fps and it was unplayable. I used to play it on this PC a while back pretty smooth.

If you have any USB drives laying around, you can install the MemTest iso onto it using a software called Universal USB Installer. Then restart the computer and make sure to put the USB drive at a higher boot priority on the boot menu. Or just boot straight to the drive through boot menu.

Does the USB have to be empty?

Yes it does. The application will format the drive anyway.
